The Nissan Rogue is a compact SUV that seats five, with an optional third row that boosts the number of seats to seven. The 2017.5 model is a midyear alteration that simply added three standard safety features: emergency braking, blind spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. In addition to being the right price, the Rogue will save you money at the pump. It has innovative continuous variable transmission (CVT) technology, which assists with fuel economy. It gets 26/33 mpg city/highway in the front-wheel drive version and 25/32 mpg for all-wheel-drive. That's the best gas mileage in any non-hybrid, non-electric SUV. The Rogue also comes as a hybrid, which, of course, does even better at 31/34 mpg.
The interior of the Nissan Rogue is downright classy. Pleasing ergonomics mean it doesn't have any hard plastics. Everything is soft-touch. For its size, the new Rogue has spacious leg and head room. Finally, interior features such as satellite radio, 5-inch Advanced Driver Assist Display, USB, Bluetooth and rearview camera come standard. Optional features include Siri Eyes Free, power liftgate, 360-degree monitor, 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic liftgate, leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, and high beam headlights.
If you want the seven-seater, be sure to get something other than the Rogue SL or hybrid models. It's not an option in those models. Any other trim, however, can be configured to include the third row. The trade-off, of course, is cargo space.
The 2017.5 Nissan Rogue is equipped to tow up to 1,000 pounds, about the weight of a small, lightweight boat. If you're looking for something with better towing capacity in the Nissan family, consider the Armada or Pathfinder, which tow 8,500 and 6,000 pounds respectively.
The Rogue is Nissan's best-selling model and the fifth most popular car in America. The first Nissan Rogue debuted in 2007 and sales numbers have steadily climbed since then. Why is it so popular? Simply put, the 2017.5 Nissan Rogue gives you the biggest bang for your buck. It starts at the competitive price of $23,820 and benefits from dealer incentives as well. The Rogue is also the right size for most buyers, a spacious model in the highly competitive compact SUV class.
